    André Rozay (1922-1994), céramiste et sculpteur français, a d'abord ambitionné de devenir peintre avant de se tourner vers la céramique. Formé aux Beaux-Arts de Bourges et de Paris, ses œuvres de cette première période sont rares.     Jean Boris Lacroix (1902-1984) était un designer et architecte français célèbre pour ses créations de luminaires modernistes. Après un apprentissage chez l’ébéniste Paul Dumas, il a fait ses débuts au Salon des Artistes Décorateurs en 1927. Lacroix est devenu une figure clé de l’innovation dans l’éclairage, collaborant avec Robert Caillat, puis Jacques Biny chez Luminalite, où il a exploré des conceptions radicales avec des matériaux comme le métal et le plexiglas. Son travail mêlait des éléments conservateurs des années 1940 avec une modernité audacieuse, produisant des pièces iconiques.     Jean Boris Lacroix (1902–1984) was a French architect and designer in the Art Deco style. He began his career in 1920 by joining Paul Dumas’s workshop. He completed his training working for fashion designer Madeleine Vionnet and became the artistic director of the Vionnet fashion house from 1924 to 1937.

    Lacroix collaborated with artists such as Jean-Michel Frank, Pierre Chareau, and Jean Dunand. However, he also created his own furniture, and his lamps remain his most famous works to this day.

    He notably exhibited his lighting fixtures, combining glass and metal, at the 1927 Salon des Artistes Décorateurs, and enjoyed similar success at the Salon d’Automne. He was also, between 1924 and 1937, the artistic director of the Madeleine Vionnet fashion house.

    Fils d'Odilon Roche, artiste et marchand d'art, Camille Roche (1894–1948) montre dès son enfance un talent remarquable pour la peinture. À 11 ans, il expose déjà au Salon d'Automne. Après des voyages en Italie et en Tunisie, il se fait connaître par ses décors pour Colette et Coco Chanel.

    Après la guerre, il collabore avec la Manufacture de Sèvres et rejoint son frère Serge Roche, décorateur de renom, pour réaliser des œuvres prestigieuses, notamment pour Lord et Lady Cholmondeley. Camille Roche est également reconnu pour ses dessins de nus, de paysages et d'animaux, et participe régulièrement aux principaux salons artistiques de son époque.

    Selon les archives familiales, Camille Roche épouse Andrée Vallée en 1916, qui figure sur la peinture. Il se remarie neuf ans plus tard, en 1925, avec la mère de ses futurs enfants. Cette peinture est une représentation d’Andrée Vallée réalisée aux alentours de 1920.

    The son of Odilon Roche, artist and art dealer, Camille Roche (1894–1948) demonstrated remarkable talent for painting from a young age. At 11, he was already exhibiting at the Salon d'Automne. After traveling to Italy and Tunisia, he became known for his decorations for Colette and Coco Chanel.

    After the war, he collaborated with the Manufacture of Sèvres and worked alongside his brother Serge Roche, a renowned decorator, to create prestigious works, including for Lord and Lady Cholmondeley. Camille Roche was also recognized for his drawings of nudes, landscapes, and animals, and regularly participated in the major art salons of his time.

    According to family records, Camille Roche married Andrée Vallée in 1916, who appears in the painting. He remarried nine years later, in 1925, to the mother of his future children. This painting is a depiction of Andrée Vallée, created around 1920.
