Hugo Scheiber (1873-1950) était un peintre hongrois d’origine juive. Autodidacte, il s’est d’abord inspiré de l’impressionnisme, avant d’évoluer vers l’expressionnisme. Son style peut être défini comme urbain et coloré. Influencé par l’avant-garde européenne et l’art déco, il reflète l’effervescence de la vie moderne, notamment à travers des portraits, des scènes dynamiques et des compositions abstraites relevant des émotions intenses.
